Battambang Province : Lorry on the railway
Speaking of old lorries, many tourists are sure to know that these lorries run on existing railway tracks and are driven by local residents (villagers). Riding these old lorries passes through rolling rice fields, streams, and villagers' houses, and the scenery is even more special when riding at sunset. Another fun experience is when there are two lorries running in opposite directions, with one lorry being lifted off the tracks for the other lorry to move forward. Generally, whichever lorry on the other side is less, the lorry on that side is lifted off the tracks. For old lorries, it provides a new experience, especially for foreign tourists who have seen the rural scenery of Battambang province. For new lorries, it is also good for Cambodians who have never traveled far to visit here, especially for families. The arrangement is good, with a restaurant, a view of the foot of Banan Mountain, and a flower garden on the other side where we can stop to rest and take pictures. The experience of riding a lorry is not like the old lorry because they built two railway lines for going and coming back without having to change trains. Overall, I think both of these are good for tourists who visit Battambang province, both domestic and foreign tourists, who have the choice to choose according to their preferences. Originally, lorries that ran on the railway were the direction that tourists came to ride from Odambaang Station to Odsarao Station. At that time, there was no highway passing through, so lorry drivers traveled back and forth safely. Only a few years later, the highway that bypassed the city was completed. With the railway crossing, the Lorry Association no longer dares to drive and guide visitors because they are afraid of danger when the lorries cross the highway. Therefore, all the lorries have moved to the Osrao station again, in the direction of national and international tourists who like to ride to enjoy the scenery from Osrao station to Reang Kesey station again. Separately, for the price of the 7-kilometer distance, if the tourist is a Cambodian, it is 10,000 riels per person, but for international tourists it is 20,000 riels per person (both ways). However, in recent years, the number of tourists has decreased significantly, which is suspected to be due to the fact that it may not be the holiday season for foreign tourists. On the other hand, there is currently another lorry location at the foot of Banan Mountain, but there they also use the railway in a one-way direction, so the number of tourists who like to ride lorries by train has decreased, and in a day, the lorry's round trip is almost impossible.
