Pursat Province : Koh Sampov Meas
"Koh Sampov Meas" is an island floating in the middle of the Pursat River, located in front of the provincial hall, about 1,000 meters north of the stone bridge. Currently, the island is being gradually improved to be more beautiful for the understanding and leisure of general tourists through the name "Cultural Village" because the value of Khmer art and culture will be displayed there. Regarding the name of "Koh Sampov Meas", Mr. Nyow Song said that the name of the island comes from a legend: A long time ago, a ship sailed to the shore and got stuck here and could not go anywhere. Over time, the ship that was stuck there froze into mud and became this island, so the locals called the island "Koh Sampov Meas". Until today, the arrangement on this island has beautiful gardens, large spaces, and many new achievements that have occurred in the present era. Currently, Koh Sampov Meas is becoming a popular entertainment place for all walks of life and has become a beautiful place that tourists, young and old, from near and far cannot ignore. That is, upon arriving in the provincial capital of Pursat, they always visit and burn incense to pray according to their respective beliefs, even if it is not for a whole day, it is only for a moment. This is because "Koh Sampov Meas" has been a sacred place of worship in the minds of the general public for a long time.
