Prey Veng Province : Vihear Chan Temple
Vihear Chan Temple: Located at the foot of Ba Phnom Mountain in Rong Damrey Village, Cheung Phnom Commune, Ba Phnom District, Prey Veng Province, within the Nokor Phnom Resort. This temple is in a dilapidated condition and is overlooked by those living in the area. The temple has also been designated as a cultural and historical heritage site by the Royal Government of Cambodia. However, there is no specific document about the history of Vihear Chan Temple, with some documents saying that the temple was built between the 1st century and the end of the 6th century AD, or during the Nokor Phnom period. However, according to some documents, the temple was built during the Angkor period to dedicate to Hinduism. The book History of Ba Phnom, researched by Mr. Long Kear, also shows that the stones used to build Vihear Chan Temple are the same as those used to build Angkor Wat.
