During the event, His Excellency the Minister emphasized that statistical work is complex and demanding. It requires staff to perform duties during weekends and public holidays, especially during major national celebrations, to ensure tourism statistics are compiled accurately, clearly, and in a timely manner.
To support the development of high-quality and efficient tourism statistics, His Excellency provided the following key recommendations:
1. Continue collecting, organizing, and compiling tourism data with a focus on quality to meet the needs of general statistical users.
2. Explore the use of tourism data management, including visitor information, tourism destinations, and tourism value chains, by applying digital technology and advanced data analytics such as Big Data and AI.
3. Develop a Digital Tourism Database to centralize and manage tourism-related information efficiently.
4. Establish and compile the Tourism Satellite Account (TSA) to support sustainable tourism measurement and monitoring.
5. Ensure harmonization of tourism statistics by integrating creativity and innovation in statistical development in line with the digital transformation era. This includes all stages of data collection, organization, compilation, analysis, preservation, and dissemination.
6. Urge deputy provincial governors responsible for tourism and directors of provincial and municipal tourism departments to pay special attention to the collection of visitor statistics, particularly during major national celebrations.
